Maternity photography meant flowing pastels, romantic whites, soft dreamy creams. That was the world I knew. That was what I prepared for.

I almost didn't buy them.

Two black maternity dresses, sitting in my online basket for weeks. Nothing dramatic, nothing elaborate. Just simple, elegant black fabric.
