Why I Don't Use AI to Edit or Generate Brand Photos — And Why Authenticity Always Wins

Let me say something that might surprise you.

I love AI.

I use it in my business every day — for writing, planning, research, ideas. It's a powerful tool and I genuinely couldn't imagine running a modern business without it.

But when it comes to photography? I won't touch it.

Not for editing. Not for generating images.

And here's why.

AI generated images are shouting from afar.

You've seen them.

That strange mix of photograph and cartoon. Faces that are somehow too smooth, too symmetrical, too perfect.

Every pore erased. Every asymmetry corrected. Eyebrows perfectly shaped. Skin without a single line or shadow.

It looks impressive at first glance. And then something in your brain says — that's not a real person.

Because it isn't.

AI doesn't know that the slight asymmetry in your smile is what makes you warm. It doesn't know that the laughter lines around your eyes tell the story of a woman who has lived, built something and earned her place. It just sees imperfection and corrects it.

And in doing so — it removes the very things that make you human.

Brand photography is not about perfection. It's about trust.

When a potential client lands on your website and sees your photo — they're not looking for perfection. They're looking for a person they can connect with. Someone real. Someone they can imagine working with.

A flawlessly AI-generated image doesn't build that connection. It breaks it.

Because somewhere — consciously or not — they know.

The face is too smooth. The lighting is too even. The expression is too perfect. And that tiny voice in their head says: who is this person really?

Trust is built on authenticity. Not on a digitally perfected version of yourself that doesn't exist.

As a photographer — my reputation depends on showing real people.

There's another reason I keep AI out of my editing process entirely.

My work is my signature. Every image I deliver represents me — my eye, my skill, my ability to see someone and capture them at their most powerful and authentic themselves.

If I started using AI to "enhance" my images — smoothing, reshaping, generating — I wouldn't be showing my clients anymore. I'd be showing what an algorithm thinks they should look like.

That's not photography. That's digital fiction.

And my clients deserve better than that.

What I do instead.

I use light. I use posing. I use direction.

I find the angle that makes you feel powerful. I create the conditions where your real expression — the one that actually makes people trust you — comes naturally.

I retouch gently and honestly. I remove a temporary blemish. I correct uneven lighting. I make you look like the best version of yourself on your best day.

Not a cartoon. Not a simulation. You.

The world is filling up with AI generated faces.

And the brands that will stand out — the ones that will build real connection and real trust — will be the ones brave enough to show up as themselves.

Authentically. Imperfectly. Powerfully.

That's what I photograph.

If you're ready for brand images that actually look like you — I'd love to work with you.
